You Found oil in your backyard.

Imagine waking up one morning, digging around your compound and discovering something that looks like crude oil.

Your first thought might be:

"That's it! Financial freedom has finally located my address!"

But hold on. It's not that simple.

Finding oil underground doesn't automatically mean you own the oil or can start selling it.

In Nigeria, petroleum resources are vested in the Federal Government, and exploration and production are subject to government regulation and licensing.

There are also technical and commercial questions:

- Is it actually crude oil?

- How much is underground?

- Can it be extracted commercially?

- Is extraction economically viable?

So, while discovering oil beneath your property might attract attention, it doesn't automatically come with a lifetime supply of money.

Sorry, your backyard oil discovery might not be your retirement plan after all. 🌚
