DID YOU KNOW? Crude oil isn't always black!

When you hear the word crude oil, what's the first thing that comes to mind?

Probably a thick, black liquid, right?

Well, here's a little surprise: crude oil can come in different colours, including:

🟡 Light yellow

🟤 Brown

🟢 Greenish

⚫ Dark brown or black

So, what determines its colour?

Its chemical composition, the types of hydrocarbons it contains, and other naturally occurring substances.

Crude oil also varies in thickness (viscosity), density and sulphur content. That's why not all crude oil is processed in exactly the same way.

Plot twist: Even crude oil has different shades!

Have you ever seen crude oil in its natural state?
