Seplat discovers oil and gas at Aku-01. On 29 October, Seplat reported hydrocarbons in five reservoir intervals. Its preliminary mid-case estimate is 157 billion cubic feet of gas and 19 million barrels of oil in place. The oil was unexpected in a well drilled for gas. Seplat is evaluating how much it can commercially recover and is planning a second exploration well for 2027.
